4. Public Comment on Non Agenda Items (Procedural Item)
Quick Summary / Abstract:

At this time, members of the public may address the Committee regarding a matter of public interest not appearing on the agenda.  No action may be taken on comments of off-agenda items unless specifically authorized by law. 

If the speaker wishes to address the committee on an item on the agenda, time will be provided before that item.  Comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes per person.

5. 2020-2021 Open Enrollment and Student Placement Presentation (Information Item)
Rationale:

To give the committee and public a better understanding of proposed implications of school closures and any potential consolidations, staff will present recommendations and policy changes for the open enrollment process and student placement process for the 2020-2021 for students at the impacted schools.

6. School Consolidation 2020 Action Plan Presentation (Information Item)
Rationale:

Staff will present a consolidation action plan with specific information about staffing implications, programming, school culture work, transitional support services and the overall timelines and phases of implementation work if school closures and consolidation are approved.

7. 7-11 District Advisory Committee School Consolidation and Final Report Study Session and Discussion (Discussion Item)
Rationale:

The committee will have dedicated time to discuss publicly, the information presented throughout the process and ask further clarifying questions. The committee will discuss recommendations for consolidation of schools, implementation recommendations, and the content of the final advisory report being provided to the school board. 

 
8. Approval of recommendation to consolidate Yountville Elementary School with Willow Elementary Magnet School (Action Item)
Rationale:

At the last committee meeting on September 17, 2019, the committee took action to approve the recommended closure of Yountville Elementary School.  The committee will be asked to consider voting on a recommendation to consolidate Yountville Elementary School with the existing Willow Elementary Magnet School which means current Yountville students will be placed at Willow Elementary for the 2020-2021 school year unless parents return to their home school or open enroll and are provided another school choice option.

 
Recommended Motion:

Approval of the recommendation to consolidate the Yountville Elementary School community with Willow Elementary Magnet School with a resident boundary adjustment.

9. Approval of recommendation to consolidate Mt. George Elementary School with Alta Heights Elementary School (Action Item)
Rationale:

At the last committee meeting on September 17, 2019, the committee took action to approve the recommended closure of Mt. George Elementary School.  The committee will be asked to consider voting on a recommendation to consolidate Mt. George Elementary School with the existing Alta Heights Elementary School which means current Mt. George students will be placed at Alta Heights Elementary for the 2020-2021 school year unless parents return to their home school or open enroll and are provided another school choice option.

 
Recommended Motion:

Approval of the recommendation to consolidate the Mt. George Elementary School community with Alta Heights Elementary School with a resident boundary adjustment.

10. Approval of 7-11 District Advisory Committee Report on Recommendations Regarding Small School Closures and Consolidations (Action Item)
Rationale:

The committee will be asked to formalize its recommendations regarding school closures and/or consolidations in a report to be presented to the Board of Trustees. A template report will be provided. The committee may consider including more specific recommendations for implementation as well. The attached document serves as a beginning template for the final report to the school board regarding advisory recommendations about school closures, school consolidation, and any additional implementation recommendations the committee may draft.

 
Recommended Motion:
Approval of the 7-11 District Advisory Committee Report on Recommendations Regarding Small School Closures and Consolidations.

11. Superintendent Closing Comments (Information Item)
Rationale:

Superintendent will provide closing remarks and next steps for the 7-11 District Advisory Committee and the NVUSD Board of Education based on the committee duties accomplished thus far.
